When it comes to making up my face for a day of lectures, I like to think I make a decent attempt at the subtle look. There's nothing worse than stepping out of the house in the cruel light of morning and feeling as though you've put on way too much blush. Pre-8am light really is so unforgiving and what looks like a fresh, put-together look in the bedroom mirror can look ridiculous once outside the front door and make you want to scuttle back inside and take it all off.
The pink toned shade in the Make Up Store Cover All Mix is incredible for covering darkness under the eyes and the paler shade works well as an eyeshadow base too. The infamous Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua is now my daily base of choice after a friend implored me to buy it, insisting it was the best foundation she had ever tried. I'm now hooked and reach for this most days. Maybelline FIT me concealer takes care of any blemishes or acne scars and a dab of Chanel Poudre Universelle Compacte anchors everything in place. I'm still partial to NARS Laguna and also NARS Orgasm for a bit of colour. As I'm usually in a real rush to get out the door in the mornings (and don't want to look like I've made TOO much of an effort for a cellular pathology or haematology lecture), I tend to not bother with eyeshadow but might smudge a little of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Permanent Taupe under my eyes. Mascara at the moment is courtesy of the Lancome Hypnose Doll Eyes and the Clinique Bottom Lash. I've fallen back in love with the Clinique Vitamin C Lip Smoothie in Strawberry Bliss. Although this is only a GWP size, it's lasted me forever and is the prettiest colour, a tiny bit darker and pinker than my lips with a hint of shimmer in that is ever so subtle but so flattering.
